Get paid to learn performance marketing from the founders of an 8-figure brand

A paid internship with uncapped upside and room to grow. You don't need any marketing experience (if you have some, that helps). You'll sit next to the cofounder and CMO at The Studio, a coworking space in Hong Kong just for e-commerce brands, and you'll start by rebuilding our email marketing from the ground up using AI.

Our email marketing is bad. Want to fix it with me?

Hey! We've paid agency after agency to run our email, and none of them got it right. They juggle 30 clients and run the same playbook on all of them.

So this time I want one sharp person in the office every day who owns it properly. I'll teach you everything I know about performance marketing, and you'll rebuild our email from the ground up.

What you'll actually be doing

Learn email marketing properly

You'll go deep on email first. Study what the fastest-growing brands do with their flows, design and writing, use AI to learn it fast, and build a feel for what separates great email from average.

Audit our account with me

Then you'll pull apart our Klaviyo account, flows, list and numbers. You'll use AI, your own judgment and my input to work out what's actually going on.

Rethink it from the ground up

This isn't about making our current emails look nicer. Based on what you learn about our customer, you'll decide what babybub's email should be, make some bold calls and test them.

Email revenue ÷ total revenue

This is the number we're trying to move. Your bonus is based on it, and there's no ceiling on it.

You don't need a specific background

Went to uni

Any subject is fine

Engineering, philosophy, biology, whatever. What matters is that you got through something hard where you had to read dense material and form your own opinions. That's a big part of this job too.

Didn't

You can still apply

If you've taught yourself harder things than a degree would have, and you can show us, that counts just as much.

Already into marketing

That helps a lot

Done some email, run ads, made content, started a little store, or just can't stop studying why some brands win? Tell us. We still build this from the ground up, but thinking like a creative performance marketer gets you there faster.

You'll use AI all day, but you need to think for yourself

YouHow do I get more revenue from abandoned carts?
AISend a 3-email sequence. The first goes out after 1 hour, the second at 24 hours with a 10% discount, and the third at 48 hours with urgency: "Your cart expires soon!"
What we'd want you to notice: this would probably work for a sneaker brand, but she might be 8 weeks pregnant and browsing at 2am, so countdown timers and pushy discounts could be the wrong move. The AI has no way of knowing that unless you tell it.
YouContext: our customer is pregnant, and her needs change by trimester. Rethink this and tell me what you'd test first.

You'll use AI all day. It'll teach you Klaviyo in an afternoon and draft anything in seconds, but it doesn't know our customer or our margins, so it will confidently tell you the wrong thing.

We want someone who notices when that happens, pushes back and adds the missing context. If you copy and paste whatever it says, this isn't for you.

Is this you?

You'll do well here if

  • You've gone down a rabbit hole on some random topic and came out knowing more than people who've done it for years
  • You'd rather try something and break it than wait for instructions
  • You question answers, including the ones AI gives you
  • You want your pay to reflect what you actually get done
  • You already geek out over ads, landing pages or why some brands blow up (a plus, not a must)
  • You want to be in a room where decisions get made

Probably skip this if

  • You need a 40-page onboarding doc before you touch anything
  • You think email is boring (it's actually one of the most profitable channels in e-commerce)
  • You're looking for a nice line on your LinkedIn and not much else
  • You want to be told what to do and never ask why

What's in it for you

Pay Paid from day one, and it grows

You're paid while you're learning, and what you earn moves up with what you take on.

Bonus

Uncapped performance bonus

Everyone in a performance role at babybub has one and none of them have a ceiling. The bonus moves with what email actually brings in, so the better it does, the more you make.

Inside access

See how an 8-figure brand runs

We're very open. You'll see the numbers, the ad accounts, the launches, what's working and what isn't, and how we make decisions day to day.

Email is just where you start

Once email is running and mostly automated, you can keep going deeper, or hand it off and take on the next part of performance with me. There's no set path. If you show you can own something, you get to own it, and there's a senior performance seat here to grow into.

You'll be working with the founders

I'm Albert, co-founder and CMO of babybub. Eli and I built it together and still run it between us. He owns product and operations, I own performance marketing: the ads, the creative, the landing pages, and now email.

You'll see how the whole brand works from the inside. Email is yours to rebuild, and I'll coach you through it rather than do it for you. How far you go from there is up to what you prove you can take on.

You'll be working out of The Studio in Central

The Studio is a members-only workspace on Hollywood Road, built for DTC founders and e-commerce operators. Everyone in the room is either running a brand or working on one, so it's nothing like a normal office.

babybub works out of there alongside brands like FluffCo, Rest, (vrsn), Nancy, I·M·8 and Chamelo. People trade notes on ads, launches and suppliers, and the space hosts product launches, dinners and panels. If you want a career in e-commerce, it's a really good room to start in, and you'll pick up a lot just from being around it.

Questions you might have

I have zero marketing experience. Should I still apply?

Yes. We care much more about how you think and how fast you learn, not what you already know.

I've already done some email or ads. Is this too junior for me?

No. Experience in email, paid ads, creative or DTC is a real plus. We'll still build this from the ground up together, you'll just move faster.

Will I be figuring this out on my own?

You'll own it, but you won't be on your own. You're next to me every day and I'll coach you as you go.

Is this a real role or a coffee-run internship?

It's a real role. From your first week you'll be working on email revenue for an 8-figure brand, not doing coffee runs.

Do I need to know anything about pregnancy?

No, but you'll need to get really curious about the people who buy from us.

Why an intern and not another agency?

We've tried agencies and they split their focus across dozens of clients. We want one person who thinks about babybub all day, learns directly from the CMO, and gets better every week.

Is it full time?

We want you in the office every day or close to it. If you're finishing uni and need some flexibility, tell us in the form.

Which AI tools will I use?

Whatever works. We use Claude and ChatGPT heavily, plus Klaviyo, Shopify and the rest of our stack. You'll get access to what you need.

How to apply

1

Fill in the form

About ten minutes. Basic details, then the parts we actually read: something hard you taught yourself with AI, a brand email in your inbox that's bad, and a link to something you've built.

Have that link ready before you start. If you haven't built anything yet, go and build something first.

2

A ten minute call

If the form looks good we'll set up a short call online. There's nothing to prepare, we'll just open up what you sent and talk through it with you.

3

A chat at The Studio

If that goes well you'll come into the office, we'll have a chat, and we'll both work out whether it's a good fit.
